Repeated Coursework Financial Aid Policy

Federal regulations limit the number of times a student may repeat a course and receive financial aid for that course.

Eligible Repeated Courses: If a student receives an “F” or a “W” in a course on first attempt and

• Receives a grade of “F” or “W” on the next attempt, regardless of the number of times the course was attempted and failed providing you meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards, the student is eligible to receive federal financial aid for the course for an additional attempt (See Table Ex. MAT 1313).
• Receives a grade of “D” or better on the next attempt, the student can repeat the course one additional time and receive federal financial aid. (See Table Ex PSY 1513)

Ineligible Repeated Courses: If a student receives a “D” or better in a course and

• Receives a grade of “D” or higher on the next attempt, the student is no longer eligible to receive aid for that course for any additional attempts. (See Table HIS 1113)
• Receives a grade of “F” or “W” on the next attempt, the student is no longer eligible to receive aid for that course for any additional attempts. (See Table: BIO 1133)

Important Note: The Financial Aid Office does not determine if a student may repeat a class, only whether a student may be eligible for financial aid for a repeat class. Additionally, every repeated course affects Satisfactory Academic Progress calculations; all repeated courses are counted as attempted credit hours.
